To the Editor,
On my way to the county transfer station, my mind came to realization that soon these faithful employees will be without a job. Obamanomics (the hope)? Where is the county employee team comraderie towards each other? These existing faithful employees will be without a job soon. Then my thoughts turned to why? Why can't the county board trim some fat off the top and keep these lower paid employees working. There can't be that much of a savings to contracting out the upper paid employees and thus saving a lot more money. I believe no one is indispensible.
It's been a few years ago, but I had to battle this political correct terminology of outresourcing at state level. After forced to play the political game and accumulating enough concrete evidence, they realize that their wood (rational) was all wet; finally, these political gurus went onto some other agendas. I could have worked hard at convincing them to contract out/outsource. Remained employed as a state electrician or regional manager and then contract back to them, but this would have been nepotism. OK, I could quit the state employ, and contracted back to them (I was already a licensed electrical contractor), thus making a much more lucrative living, but could not do this to my fellow workers, due to my personal convictions.
I'm in favor of retaining these employees. They've been doing a great job. Thank you for letting me share my thoughts.
