A colorfully dressed young man in a fancy war dance costume was among the many participants in the grand entry at the 40th annual Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days celebration last weekend in Warm Springs.

The 40th anniversary of Pi-Ume-Sha Treaty Days in Warm Springs was celebrated June 26 through 28, with tribal dancers competing from all over the Northwest.
The three-day powwow honored the signing of the Treaty of 1855, which created the Warm Springs Reservation.
Events included the Pi-Ume-Sha Parade on Saturday, and Pi-Ume-Sha Rodeo action. Native American vendors from all over had booths offering everything from fry bread and salmon, to tribal jewelry and clothing.
In conjunction with Pi-Ume-Sha, The Museum at Warm Springs has opened its Art of Ceremony exhibit, featuring regalia from nine Oregon tribes.
