Families that have been budgeting to cope with the economic recession will get a boost from the third annual Our Community in the Park, Aug. 7 -- where everything is free!
Our Community in the Park is an annual event presented by the churches of Madras to give back to the community, "Because it's the right thing to do," according to organizers.
Everyone is invited to Friendship Park (by old Westside Elementary School on Fourth Street) Saturday, Aug. 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for free:
. Dental care.
. Medical checks.
. Massages.
. Vision checks.
. Clothing.
. Family photos.
. Help with lawn or minor home repair.
. Auto service.
. Hair cuts.
. Food.
This will also be a day of fun in the park with a Kids' Corner equipped with inflatable bouncers, crafts and other activities.
Added to the entertainment this year will be a free concert at 6 p.m. featuring the band "Elliot," presented by I Love Madras.
