George "Bud" Watson
Madras resident George "Bud" Willis Watson died Feb. 27, 2010, at his home at the age of 83.
Mr. Watson was born on Nov. 5, 1926, in Powers, Ore., to George and Nellie (Pilun) Watson.
He served in the U.S. Navy from January 1944 until his honorable discharge in September 1947. He earned many medals including the American Area, Victory World War II, Asiatic Pacific Area medals and six stars, Philippine Liberation and two stars, and the Good Conduct medal.
Ater his discharge, Mr. Watson went to work for Longview Fiber Co. He worked there for over 35 years. In 1981, he relocated to Madras.
He married Margie (Harlan) Watson on Dec. 30, 1950, in Longview, Wash. They were married for 59 years this past December.
Mr. Watson enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, and ranching. He also liked to go to rodeos.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Watson at their home in Madras; daughters, Mary Carter of Chehalis, Wash., Elaine Watson-Boehme of Madras, and Dee Ann Eagles of Bend; sons, Raymond Watson of Chehalis, Wash., and Michael Watson of Toppenish, Wash.; brother, Don Watson of Lakeview, Wash.; sister, Adeline Kincaid of Carson City, Nev.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, at the Old German Methodist Cemetery in Metolius on Franklin and Abby roads. A luncheon and celebration of his life will follow at the Watson home on 4920 S.W. Franklin Road.
Memorial donations may be made to VFW of Redmond. Arrangements were under the direction of Bel-Air Colonial Funeral Home of Madras.
