Health department offers immunization clinics for students

The Jefferson County Health Department is offering immunization clinics for students entering or already in school.
Health officials noted it is important to get an early start or update on immunizations before fall.
There are two new shot requirements for the coming school year. Students entering preschool, childcare, Head Start and kindergarten, are required to have a hepatitis A shot prior to starting school. Students entering the seventh grade are required to have a tetnus-diptheria-pertusis shot.
The immunization clinics will be held Mondays from 2 to 3:45 p.m., and Fridays from 9 to 11:45 a.m., with two exceptions: Aug. 26 and 29, the clinics will be 9 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m.
For more information, contact the health department at 475-4456.
