George and Kathleen Flake
All friends and relatives are invited to help George and Kathleen Flake of Culver celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a reception hosted by their children from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 31, at St. Patrick's Church.
There will be a Mass and renewal of vows at the church, with the reception to follow at St. Pat's parish hall.
The Flakes were married Aug. 22, 1960, in Maryland. Mr. Flake was in the military, and they lived at Camp Pendleton, Calif., before moving to Madras in 1977. In 1999, they moved to Culver.
Mr. Flake is retired from working for Qwest for 35 years. Mrs. Flake worked 11 years at Hatfield's Department Store in Madras, and is retired from working for the city of Culver.
In retirement, he is an avid fisherman and hunter, while she is a member of the Culver Red Hat Ladies and enjoys doing handcrafts.
Their children are Colleen Light of Washougal, Wash., Maureen Feldman of Aurora, Ore., Kathleen Yadao of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Patrick Flake of Culver. They have 10 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
