Jefferson County Little League All Star teams are set, and district tournaments will start this weekend. The league has six all-star teams -- four baseball and two softball squads -- with players ranging in age from 9 to 14. All of the tournaments will be held in Redmond starting Saturday. The girls softball Minors (9/10) team will open on Sunday against Columbia at 10:30 a.m. at Bowlby Field. Bowlby Field is located near Redmond High School. The team will then play Hermiston on Monday morning at 8:30 at Bowlby, with pool play starting on Tuesday. The Major (11/12) softball squad will open very early, at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, against Hermiston. Their games will be at Bowlby as well. The baseball Minor (9/10) team will open Saturday against Hermiston Gold at 6:15 at Bowlby Field, then will play The Dalles Green on Sunday at 6:15 p.m. On Monday at noon, they'll face Bend North Red at Umatilla Field, which is located generally and south of Bi-Mart in Redmond. The Minor Majors (10/11) team kicks off their tournament Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against Bend South, at Umatilla Field. The team's second game is scheduled against Bend North on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Umatilla Field, with pool play starting Tuesday. The Major (11/12) team will open against Deschutes at 2 p.m. Saturday at Umatilla Field, then will play Willow Creek at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. On Monday, they'll battle Bend North at 5 p.m. Pool play will start on Tuesday, the Fourth of July. The Juniors (13/14) will play their games at Jaqua Field. Jefferson County will open against Bend North at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. They'll face Sisters in a 7:30 a.m. contest Sunday, and Redmond at 9 a.m. Monday. Pool play will commence on Tuesday. The Jefferson County teams consist of athletes from throughout the county's communities.
