The Pioneer has served Jefferson County since 1904. It is a member publication of Eagle Newspapers Inc. and is published weekly, distributed locally Wednesday mornings.  The Pioneer, with a circulation of 3,850, also produces a monthly full-color  Total Market Coverage publication, The  Shopper!, which is direct-mailed to an additional 7,100 Madras-area residents. The Shopper! reaches homes every Wednesday in the Pioneer and Thursday in an additional mailing.

Along with publishing an award-winning newspaper, the Pioneer produces several special publications annually, including the magazine Sageland in September and April, and the Madras-Area Phone Book in June. The Pioneer also provides a wide array of printing and composition services.
