On Wednesday, Jan. 18, Madras, Culver and Bend High School competed in a double dual competition with Culver winning both of their matches, while Madras lost theirs.

For years the Culver High School wrestling program has challenged itself by wrestling teams from higher school classifications. That has continued this year as the Bulldogs hosted Class 3A La Pine on Tuesday and Class 4A Crook County on Wednesday.

The Madras Buffaloes boys basketball team lost to the visiting The Dalles Riverhawks 71-56 in Tri-Valley Conference play Jan. 24.

The Culver Bulldogs finished in third with 166 points at the Jan. 21 Santiam Christian Screaming Eagle event in Adair Village Saturday, Jan. 21.

On Saturday, Jan. 21, the Madras White Buffalo girls wrestling program had two wrestlers entered in the Lady Dragon Invitational at The Dalles. This was a large 51-team tournament in which the Buffalos placed 39th.

In Tri-Valley Conference conference basketball action, the No. 13th-ranked Madras White Buffaloes girls team defeated the visiting Estacada Rangers 66-21.

Madras White Buffalo wrestling had a tough time at the Oregon Classic Jan. 13-14, but did come away with one dual meet win.

After a big defeat against the third-ranked Gervais Cougars on Thursday, the Culver girls basketball squad got a Tri-River Conference victory Friday, dominating the Kennedy Trojans 50-33.

The No. 12th-ranked Lady Buffalos basketball team hosted the No. 24th-ranked Sweet Home Huskies on Tuesday, Jan. 10 and cruised to a 54-40 win.

In 2A Tri-River Conference play, the Culver Bulldogs hosted the Regis Rams Saturday, and it was a tough day for the Culver squads. The girls lost 52-22 in the opener and the and the boys fell 67-27 in the second game.

The Madras White Buffalos swim team hosted the 2023 Madras Invitational Jan. 3 at the Madras Aquatic Center. The boys squad placed sixth with 123 team points and the girls placed seventh with 67 points.

Both the Madras boys and girls basketball teams played well at the recent Sisters Holiday Shootout Basketball Tournament, held Dec. 28-30.

The Madras White Buffalo boys wrestling team finished in second at the Woodfin-Robinson Memorial Wrestling Tournament in Burns Saturday, Dec. 30.
